Vice President, Program Management

Description

We are searching for an experienced, hands-on VP, Program Management (PM) to take accountability for driving the development and execution of an integrated development program strategy for our DKN-01 monoclonal antibody that is being studied for the treatment of patients with cancer. The VP, PM will play a key role in the strategic leadership of Leap and work as a member of the Senior Management Team to define and implement Leap’s overall direction for DKN-01. The VP, PM will oversee cross-functional coordination with each functional area to ensure all project deliverables achieve defined scope, budget, and timelines. The VP, PM will also lead Alliance Management for our partnership with BeiGene. The expectations for this role span both strategy development and operational/execution against plan. This individual will lead a matrix team of people and resources to achieve high levels of performance. The VP, PM will report to the Chief Executive Officer, working closely with all members of Senior Management.

 

Requirements and Responsibilities

  • Provide direct leadership to drive governance, prioritization, allocation of resources, and decision making

  • Partner with Senior Management and Leap team members to lead cross-functional program teams and develop strategic plans integrating clinical, CMC, biomarker, regulatory, and commercial considerations

  • Accountable for maintaining oversight of an integrated Product Development Plan

  • Manage effective balance between scientific, clinical, CMC, regulatory, and financial goals/outcomes resulting in successful product development and corporate effectiveness

  • Utilize program dashboards, metrics, and reporting mechanisms to communicate with the Senior Management Team and the Board of Directors

  • Proactively identify risks and gaps and work with impacted teams and functional leadership to develop and implement mitigation plans

  • Liaise/build relationships with functional representatives to manage program resourcing, finances, and disclosures

  • Demonstrate fluidity and flexibility in style and approach to team oversight to meet the needs of an evolving program strategy

  • Contribute to short and long-term strategic planning though the development of program recommendations, escalation of risks, accommodation of balanced decision making, and overall program transparency

  • Apply drug development knowledge and experience to ensure that DKN-01 is managed in an efficient and rigorous manner as reflected in the execution of projects and studies with a high degree of technical, regulatory, and commercial success

  • Lead scenario planning and organizational readiness for initiatives and/or program progress

 

Qualifications

  • Direct people leadership experience with demonstrated success of leading high-performing teams to functional objectives

  • Expert knowledge of drug development process with demonstrated record in R&D program management in pharmaceuticals, biopharmaceuticals, or biotechnology

  • Demonstrated experience leading drug development projects and activities in a matrixed organization including leading the development of at least one development candidate with adherence to quality, excellence, and efficiency

  • Broad understanding of the multidisciplinary functions contributing to effective and efficient drug development.

 

  • Solid understanding of CMC, pharmacology, toxicology, PK, clinical requirements to support major regulatory filings and the interdependencies between various subject areas (e.g., CMC, Pharm/Tox, PK, Clinical, Regulatory, Marketing, Finance) from a planning, risk management, time/event/cost point

  • Ability to assimilate data, recognize key variables, analyze complex situations, and make quality judgements

  • Track record of having managed successful program teams, as well as a desire and ability to perform both at a strategic leadership level as well as in a hands-on capacity

  • Strategic mindset with the ability to prioritize amid ambiguity

  • Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills, including specifically, the skills needed to manage difficult conversations and interactions as they arise
